International Teams Competition - 1998
Today I watched another pearl of Lyssenko archive on YouTube: The International Race Team in 1998 among China, Romania and USA , a strange transition period for the gymnastics world. It was exciting, a bit 'strange and even depressing. To be sure, an intriguing race.

See Corina Ungureanu, young and innocent version (and dressed), run a free body beautiful. The music is weird though. Someone commented that it seems that the advertising of Stridex eighties ... I have no idea what the Stridex, but certainly Camelia Voinea would know what we're talking about!
See the Romanian team in a bad mood even more than usual, as a person of the delegation (not an athlete) had been the victim of theft and admitted to hospital due to a gunshot and saw that most or less all the gymnasts were dislocated or broken something during training for this race. Feel
commentators say that when they asked to Nicoleta Onel Belu if he had any chance of reaching the European Championship, he simply replied "No, no possibility. " In fact, the commentators there were very bad about it, until you put one foot out the platform. Do not slip or fall! see another disaster of Vanessa Atler. His mental block for the parallel, the commentators kept repeating that and Vanessa that he repeated it in interviews. And guess how it went?
Hear Donna Strauss shouting "You're an animal! An animal, hell! "Kristin Maloney after an exercise in perfect beam (rare event for the team in those days).
See Kristin Maloney watch Atler the beam, seeing her almost fall, grabs the leg of a teammate, and shake the whole raising the leg!
The Chinese and their crazy exercises on the parallel bars (apart from the outputs of course) and see a race giovane Ling Jie.
Vedere Andreea Isarescu gareggiare a tredici anni dopo un susseguirsi di infortuni rumeni, e gareggiare bene! Probabilmente non aveva idea di dover essere nervosa, ecco perché!
Vedere primi piani e sentire Belu mentre parla coi giudici. Due volte. A volte mi fa ridere, specialmente quando non aveva capito che la Onel aveva messo il piede fuori dalla pedana e si chiedeva la ragione di tutte quelle penalità.
Ma il meglio (nel senso morboso del termine, come quando non si riesce a smettere di guardare una cosa terribile) è vedere una squadra americana penosa contro una squadra rumena penosa e una series of stupid mistakes, which is rare for two teams of some importance.
